Consultation (general and specialist)

We provide you with a comprehensive consultation of your chief complaint as well as a complete detailed examination of your teeth and gums included. We then give you a treatment plan which will solve your dental issues as well as help you maintain your oral hygiene over a long term. For a better view we may even show you a scanned image of your mouth using an intra oral camera for the same.

Digital X-rays

A digital x ray of the complaint tooth and some part of the surrounding gums and bone is taken if required. For this we use an x ray sensor and a portable x ray machine which unlike other devices is comfortable in the mouth and is also very quick to process and view the x ray.

Dental Fillings

Tooth decay or tooth caries permanently damage the hard surface of teeth and develop into tiny openings or holes. These are also called cavities. If the cavities are not very deep the best option is to remove the decay and fill the cavities with a material which is compatible with the tooth structure. We use a material that resembles the colour of your teeth to provide you with an aesthetic tooth.

Root Canal Treatments (RCT)

It is also called RCT in short. This treatment is done if the tooth caries is very deep and reaching the nerve and blood vessels in the tooth. To check the caries spread first an x ray is taken. During this procedure we clean the tooth from within including the roots. After that is done the tooth is filled till the end of the roots with a bio-compatible material. This procedure can take 3 to 5 settings or even more depending on the infection. We do this procedure only after giving an injection of local anaesthesia to make it as painless for the patient as possible. Antibiotics and painkillers are prescribed for RCT. After the treatment a cap is cemented on the tooth. The cap is very essential as the tooth becomes fragile after RCT and may fracture on biting or chewing anything hard.

Crowns & Bridges

drnilgar.png

A crown, or cap, is a cover for the natural tooth that resembles the real tooth in shape, size, and color. We advise a crown after the root canal treatment as the tooth becomes brittle after RCT and may fracture while chewing or biting. The tooth is resized, and a measurement is taken using impression material. These measures are then sent to a dental lab & the crown is fabricated over it. The crown is cemented onto the tooth after fabrication.

A bridge is made to replace one or more missing teeth. In this procedure, the teeth in front and behind the missing teeth are taken as support and crowns are made over them. We thoroughly evaluate these supporting teeth which may also require a root canal treatment. Between the crowns, missing teeth are then joint. The bridge is also fabricated in a dental lab. The crowns and bridges are then cemented over natural teeth using a dental cement.

There are different materials which can be used to make the crowns/bridges and we give you a wide range to choose depending on aesthetic and financial fulfilments.

Dentures

We may recommend dentures if a patient has no teeth or multiple missing teeth specially if the supporting teeth are not present. These may hence be complete or partial dentures. Dentures can be removable or supported by implants. Material used for making a denture varies and so does the cost. We recommend for you the best material at fully affordable prices. We may call our consultant staff for making your dentures depending on your case. Dentures require special care and compliance. The denture care instructions are given below.

Teeth Cleaning and Scaling

We routinely perform dental scaling to help patients with gum disease and excessive plaque build-up. Coffee, tea and tobacco stains, that are external can also be removed with this procedure. A standard cleaning will address the surface of the tooth while scaling goes much deeper. A specialized ultrasonic instrument is used for this procedure. This features a vibrating metal tip combined with a cool water spray. The tip chips tartar away as the water flushes out the pocket. Dental scaling is typically followed by a procedure known as root planing.

Root planing reaches deeper to address the surface of the tooth’s root. This is done in the same manner as scaling. Root planing smooths the surface of the root so the gums can reattach properly. Dental scaling can be uncomfortable, particularly if you have sensitive gums. We may hence use a local anaesthetic to numb your gum tissue and make the procedure more comfortable. After the procedure the teeth are polished using an abrasive paste and brush which gives a fresh and clean mouth. Scaling may require more than one appointment depending on the stains and plaque build-up.

Extraction

Extraction of teeth is advised for several reasons like major decay, orthodontic treatment, removal of remaining roots, etc. We carry out all dental extractions under local anaesthesia so that the procedure becomes painless and comfortable for the patient. We take a thorough history of the patient before extraction and also record his blood pressure. If the patient is under any medication it should be disclosed so as to avoid any further complications. We may even advise the patient to get a routine blood investigation done before the extraction.
